A library is a place where there is a collection of books, documents or records kept for reference, research or borrowing, and other materials for reading and study. A research library is a library which contains an in-depth collection of material on one or several subjects. A research library will generally include primary sources and related material. Large university libraries are considered research libraries. Research libraries can be either reference libraries, which do not lend their holdings, or lending libraries, which do lend their holdings or parts of their holdings. Research libraries often have services and programs to help students or researchers find what they are looking for.
