When you contact the health maintenance organizations, you will want to choose one that is a large enough size that you can choose the doctors that you feel comfortable with. Ask the HMO how long they have been in business. Those that have several years of experience are usually larger because they have had enough time to build their social and business connections. While you need to think about the monthly payments for your health insurance plans, you should also ask them how many doctors’ visits and prescription medicines you get. A health maintenance organization, or HMO, is a type of managed care organization or managed health care organizations.
